BYU

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: The BYU women's basketball team will play two exhibition games next week. On Tuesday, the Cougars host instate foe Westminster at 7 p.m., followed by a game on Nov. 3 against Eastern Oregon at 5 p.m. The regular season for BYU begins on Nov. 9 at UC Santa Barbara. The team's home opener is Tuesday, Nov.17, at 2 p.m. against Fresno State.

Utah State

MEN'S BASKETBALL: Utah State all-American Jaycee Carroll has been named one of the top 50 preseason candidates for the 2007-08 John R. Wooden Award, the nation's most coveted college basketball award. The preseason candidates were announced earlier this week by the Los Angeles Athletic Club's Wooden Award Committee. Carroll, a 6-foot-2 senior guard from Evanston, Wyo., is one of just two players from the Western Athletic Conference, along with Nevada's Marcelus Kemp, to be named to the list. Earlier this year, Carroll was voted as the WAC's preseason player of the year by both the coaches and media, and was listed as one of the top 15 seniors in the nation by SportsIllustrated.com and a first-team high-major All-American by Collegehoops.net.

Utah

MEN'S BASKETBALL: Utah fans will have an opportunity to see the Runnin' Utes in action prior to the exhibition opener. Utah will hold an intrasquad scrimmage today at 5 p.m. in the Jon M. Huntsman Center. The scrimmage is open to the public and will likely last an hour. Utah plays Montana Tech in an exhibition game on Wednesay at 7 p.m. in the Huntsman Center.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: KALL 700 Sports and KZNS (1280 The Zone) will team up to broadcast all 30 games of the 2007-08 season. In addition to the 30-game regular-season schedule, the Mountain West Conference tournament will also air live from Las Vegas on 700AM.
