FARMINGTON — A cold-case murder trial has been delayed.
In a brief hearing on Friday, attorneys for both the prosecution and the defense agreed to delay this week's trial of Edward Lewis Owens. Court minutes indicate the new trial will begin Nov. 28 and is scheduled to last until Dec. 7.
Owens, 57, is charged with first-degree felony murder in the 1980 slaying of Karin Strom. The case was unsolved until recently, when Woods Cross police claimed DNA evidence helped link Strom's death to Owens.
