Obituary: Lester Dean Jones

Lester Dean Jones

1930 ~ 2007

Beloved husband, father, grand-father, great-grandfather and friend, Lester Dean Jones, passed away surrounded by his loving family, Friday October 26, 2007. After having lived a wonderful life, he passed away due to complications from Pulmonary Fibrosis.Dean was born March 9, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Lester Jones and Madeline Arrowsmith. He attended East High School and the University of Utah and worked as a sound engineer. He served an honorable three-year mission to Sweden and was faithful in his church and family responsibilities.

On March 18, 1954, Dean married his sweetheart Ruth Strong in the Salt Lake Temple and they spent their first two years living and traveling throughout Europe while Dean served in the United States Army. During their 53 years of marriage they joyfully raised four children.

Dean was a quiet man of great faith who taught by example how to live a Christ-like life. He was a kind and gentle man who was filled with a powerful love for everyone. One of his greatest gifts was his special affinity for children and teenagers who turned to him for his unconditional love and tender advice.

Thank you Dean for the years of love, service, kindness and compassion that you poured out upon each of us! We love you and miss you!

Survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Ruth; his adoring children, Becki (Kim) Stevens, Lori (Steve) Flygare, Lisa (Todd) Conley, and Mark (Kristen) Jones; his 17 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and his sister, Carol Hutchinson. Preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Barbara McIntyre.

A viewing will be held Sunday,

October 28 from 6-8 p.m. at Memorial Estates Mortuary, 3115 E. 7800 S., and again prior to the funeral services at the ward chapel from 11 a.m. to noon. Funeral Services will be held Monday, Oct. 29 at noon at the Butler 20th Ward Chapel, 1356 E. 7200 S. Interment will follow at Memorial Estates Cemetery.
