"Dick"

1912 ~ 2007

Richard Nakamura, age 95, passed away peacefully on the evening of October 23, 2007.Dick was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. He spent many of his summers as a young man working a fishery in Alaska. Dick married Kiyo Kamihara in 1942. They had their first child, Joyce, in Heart Mountain internment camp. After World War II, he settled in Salt Lake City where his two sons, Ross and Phil were born and raised.

Dick will be remembered and missed for his wonderful sense of humor, his integrity, his uncommon industriousness, his admirable ability to speak his mind, and most of all for his devotion to his family and friends. He took great pleasure in watching and participating in the rearing of his grandchildren.

Richard's wife Kiyo and his sisters Doris Nakamura, Violet Kaneko and Frances Okubo preceded Dick. He is survived by his sister Mary Umemoto, daughter Joyce (Herb) Matsuno, sons Ross (Lee) and Phil (Merry) Nakamura, his grandchildren Chris, Paul, Adrienne, PJ, and Merissa.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sat., Nov. 3rd, at Memorial Mortuary Mountainview, 3115 E. 7800 S. Sandy, UT. Friends will be received one hour before the service.
