Obituary: Joyce Wheaton Boice

Joyce Wheaton Boice

1931 ~ 2007

Joyce Eleanor Boice passed away peacefully in Salt Lake City of respiratory failure on October 27th with loving family at her side. She was born October 19, 1931 in Dundee, MI to George Wheaton and Helen Higbee. She graduated from San Diego State University where she had met Raymond J. Boice. She became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints while living in San Diego. She and Ray later married on June 1, 1960 in the Laie, Hawaii LDS Temple. Joyce and Ray were blessed with three daughters and one son. The family lived in many beautiful parts of the country; Pearl Harbor, HI; San Diego and Orange, CA; Coventry, CT; Aurora, CO; Knoxville, TN and Sandy, UT.

Joyce found special joy and satisfaction while serving with her husband in the Philadelphia, PA Mission during 19982000 and in the Jordan River LDS Temple for six years. She had great love for genealogy and family history work and compiled wonderful family scrapbooks. She was a kind and caring lady with great love for family and friends, and her sweet smile and humor will be missed.

Joyce is survived by her husband, children: Lisa, Salt Lake City, UT; Todd (Marcy) Federal Way, WA; Tina (Dan) Jackson, Taylorsville; Tricia (Robert) Reeder, Dallas, TX., nine terrific grandchildren and her two brothers: Larry (Betty), Denver, CO and Roger (Karen), Ann Arbor, MI.

A viewing will be held Thursday, Nov. 1 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 S., Sandy. Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 2 at 11 a.m. at the Sandy Utah Granite South Stake Center, 2126 E. Gyrfalcon Drive (10000 S.), Sandy. A viewing from 9:15-10:45 will precede the services. Interment will follow at Larkin Sunset Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to LDS Humanitarian Aid or LDS Perpetual Education funds. Online condolences to the family at
