Josephine Ajax Irvine

Josephine Ajax Irvine, our beloved Mom, Grandma, and great-Grandma passed away September 29, 2007.She was born March 14, 1917 in Tooele, Utah to Ivor and Margretta Blanche Irvine Ajax. She spent her early childhood in Tooele, then moved to Salt Lake in her youth. She graduated from East High School. She married Harry F. Irvine on June 15, 1938. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. She worked as a secretary at Strevell Patterson Hardware and later as with her husband as part-owner and the bookkeeper at Stuart Electric Supply. She was meticulous in her profession.
Mom was a very talented and gifted person. She loved handwork of any kind-knitting gorgeous sweaters, crochet, needlepoint, cross-stitch, embroidery, sewing and tailoring. She was a voracious reader, loved poetry, old movies, and painting ceramics. She was a gifted musician, playing both piano and organ. Mom loved family gatherings and family trips. She had a special soft spot for animals of any kind. She was a woman of impeccable integrity, determination, patience, and optimism.
She is survived by two sons, Greg and Larry Irvine; daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Don Robison; six grandchildren, Travis, and Scott Irvine, Ryan (Tiffani), Dave (Rosie), Chrissy, and Matt Robison; and five great-grandchildren. Her beloved dog, Muffet, also survives her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, brother Roland, and a great-grandson.
The family wishes to thank family and friends for their support and love, and Romaine and the wonderful caregivers at Hazen Care Center for all the loving care they gave to Mom.
Funeral services will be Friday, October 5th, at 12:00 noon at the Holladay 1st Ward 2065 East 4675 South. A viewing will be held from 11:00-11:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Funeral directors are Larkin Mortuary.
