Chlorine leak springs from Pleasant Grove well

PLEASANT GROVE — An evening chlorine leak in Pleasant Grove caused no injuries, but crews are working to ensure it doesn't happen again.

Around 8 p.m. Tuesday, residents called police to report they smelled chlorine gas, which can be dangerous if breathed, said Pleasant Grove Police Capt. Cody Cullimore.

Residents in several homes around the Monson well, at 950 E. 200 North, had to be evacuated and were asked to wait several blocks away.

A few people reported headaches and nausea but were OK when taken somewhere with fresh air, Cullimore said.

The gas had been leaking from the chlorinator, which is being worked on.
