PROVO — A man allegedly used stolen credit card numbers to make 28 fraudulent purchases over a 2 1/2-week period, police said.
According to an affidavit, Dwayne Jackson obtained another person's Wells Fargo credit card number and used it 24 times. Police said he also obtained another person's credit card and used it four times without permission. Between Aug. 29 and Sept. 16, police said, Jackson totaled nearly $1,900 in fraudulent charges.
On Sept. 29, police said, Jackson admitted he stole the credit card number but denied stealing the credit card, although he said he knew it was stolen.
Police arrested Jackson for 28 counts of unlawful possession of a credit card and one count of felony theft for the aggregated value of the charges on the stolen credit cards, and booked him into Utah County Jail on Tuesday.
