Bureau of Land Management firefighters are planning a prescribed fire for Rich County, 2 1/2 miles northwest of Woodruff.
Officials hope the blaze will minimize fire hazards by mimicking natural processes, according to Bureau of Land Management Spokeswoman Erin Darboven.
The prescribed burn is expected to last only one day; fire officials will monitor the weather through the week to determine the best day for it.
The fire will be called Sage Hollow. It will coincide with high moisture levels, and is not expected to spread beyond public lands in the area.
