I am disgusted by the way politicians and the news media gleefully took out of context the statements Rush Limbaugh made regarding "phony soldiers." News reporters and editors carefully selected guests, such as Gen. Wesley Clark, who took political advantage.
As any informed newsman and politician must surely know, Limbaugh was referring only to persons who falsely claim to be war veterans. He has never disparaged legitimate veterans simply because they disagree with his views of the conflict in Southwest Asia.
The news media and Congress owe a full and immediate clarification, correction and apology to the people of the United States and to Mr. Limbaugh.
