Melba M. Laws Together Again BOUNTIFUL- Melba Mae Kirkham Laws, 84, our loving mother and grandmother, passed away of natural causes, Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, at the Lakeview Hospital with her children by her side. She was born July 1, 1922, in Garland, UT, a daughter of Nathan and Clara May Smith Kirkham. She married Loren Kenneth Laws on Aug. 27, 1941 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died June 1, 1993. She married Ned Bowen and they were later divorced. She lived in Ogden for 50 years and Bountiful for six years. Melba had been employed as a secretary at Ben Lomond High School and the Ogden City School Board Office. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings including, Primary Stake Board, ward Relief Society presidency, temple worker at the Ogden Temple and chorister in different organizations for over 30 years. She did volunteer work at the Lakeview Hospital and the McKay-Dee Hospital serving on its volunteer board. She had been president with her husband of the Northern Utah Square Dance Association; the Taylor School PTA; the Hilltoppers Square Dance Club; and had been secretary of the Ogden Education Secretary Association. Surviving are two sons and two daughters, Lloyd K. (Connie) Laws, Lehi, Utah; Brent G. (Linda) Laws, Bend, Oregon; Diana Mae (John Kenneth) Jones, Bountiful; and Cheryl Ann (Dwight) Archibald, West Valley City, Utah; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph, Reed, and Ray Kirkham; one granddaughter, Alison Jones. Funeral service will be held Sat., Feb. 3, 2007, at noon in the Bountiful 7th LDS Ward, 1250 So. Main St. Friends may call at the Larkin & Sons Mortuary, 496 24th St., Ogden, Fri., Feb. 2, 2007, from 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m. and Sat. at the ward from 10:30 a.m. -11:45 a.m. Interment in the Farmington City Cemetery, Utah.
