Grant Thompson Snarr 1919 ~ 2007 Salt Lake City- Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend reunited with his Father in Heaven January 28, 2007 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Grant was born on June 7, 1919 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ralph Thompson Snarr and Lorena Huish. He married his sweetheart, Iona Bliss, on October 25, 1940 and was later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Grant's life was one of service to his family, church and country. He was an active member of the LDS Church and an Eagle Scout. He graduated from West High School. Grant served in the US Army during World War II and the Korean War. He worked for the D&RGW Railroad as a Car Foreman for 43 years. He was passionate about sports - especially baseball and the Utah Jazz. He officiated basketball, baseball and football for many years. Grant is survived by his wife, Iona; and three children: Jimmy Thompson (Nora), Grant Dean (Cherie), Joanne Snarr-Moser (David); seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who will all miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and five sisters. The family is grateful to the Hospice, especially Yetta, Rudy, Mark, and all of Affinity. A viewing will be held on Friday, Feb. 2, 2007 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State St., Midvale, Utah. Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Crescent 16th Ward, 275 E. 10600 S., Sandy, Utah, where friends may call from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
