Afton Marble Wood "Go Jazz" Afton Marble Wood, beloved wife, mother and grandmother left this life on January 27, 2007 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. She was born February 21, 1927 in Brigham City to Hyrum Lyman and Sarah Emily Marble and was raised in nearby Corinne, Utah where she was the youngest of eight children. She graduated from Box Elder High School and attended LDS Business College. She married Rulon Melvin Wood in the Logan LDS Temple on February 7, 1945. The first year of her marriage was spent with her husband in St. Louis while he served in the Army Air Corps. They then moved to Salt Lake City where she lived the rest of her life. She was employed as Executive Secretary for Mountain America Credit Union for 12 years before retiring. Afton was a smart, kind, and compassionate person who was a friend to all. She loved her family, dogs, travel, dancing, softball, and the Utah Jazz. She was an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and a faithful member of the LDS Church serving as Primary President, Stake Primary Counselor and in the Relief Society Presidency. She especially enjoyed serving as compassionate service leader. She is survived by her husband and children Larry (Lorraine), Bruce, Wendy (John). She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and sisters and one granddaughter. Funeral Services will be held at the Foothill 3rd Ward, 1794 So. Texas Street (2405 East) in Salt Lake City at noon Saturday, February 3, 2007. A viewing will be held from 10:45 - 11:45 a.m. before the service at the church.
