Honor for Draper seniors

SHARE Honor for Draper seniors

For the past 109 years, Draper senior citizens have met once a year for a get-together to socialize and reminisce about the "good ol' days." In the beginning, in 1898, it was called Old Folks Day and was sponsored by the Draper 1st Ward. It evolved into a Presidents Day luncheon in 1970.

Senior citizens in Draper, 60 years and older, will be honored again Monday at 11 a.m. at the Corner Canyon Stake Center, 13366 S. 1300 East. All former and current Draper residents are invited. The sponsors are four stakes in the area: Sandy Hidden Valley, Draper, Corner Canyon and South Mountain. The program starts with a flag ceremony and the pledge of allegiance.

Ray Terry, a lifelong resident of Draper, will be the featured speaker and will highlight some of the early businesses in Draper.
