"Mayme" Mary Alice Pace Hansen 12/31/1903~2/18/2007 "Wonderful Friend To Everyone" Mayme Mary Alice Pace Hansen, age 103, died peacefully. Mary Alice was born in Nephi, Utah, on Dec. 31, 1903 to Alexander Elijah and Lizzie Broadhead Pace. She was the fourth to arrive in a family of nine, three boys and six girls. She married her sweetheart, Arthur D. Hansen, September 15, 1924 in the Salt Lake Temple. Her husband, Arthur, and sisters, Nellie Lee, Leah Lee, Ida Pace, Lola Olsen, Mildred Smith and brothers Morgan and Thomas preceded her in death. Her brother Wallace survives her. She attended school in Nephi until 1917 when the family moved to Price, Utah to be closer to her father's sheep business. Following graduation from Carbon High, she went to work for Western Union. In two years she saved enough to attend Beauty College in Salt Lake City. After graduation she worked in Helper and Price, Utah until her marriage in 1924. She was involved in the beauty business for years in both Utah and Arizona becoming President of the Cosmetology Association of Utah in 1951. Mary Alice and Arthur moved to Phoenix, Arizona in May 1952, to go into retail business with his sister and brother-in-law. While there, they made wonderful, eternal friends. In 1980 she moved back to Salt Lake into her mother's home. Mary Alice was a very active member of the LDS Church and held many positions. She served a mission with her husband in the Phoenix area until his death in 1967. She was called as a hostess for the main lobby in the Church Office Building in Salt Lake in 1986 and served there until Jan. of 2006 at age 102. Mary Alice had a great love for genealogy and her family ties. She traveled to England as a representative of the Pace Family, to do research on her grandfather's line. She made other trips to many lands. A special trip to the Holy Land gave her opportunity to walk where Jesus walked. She was a very positive person, always looked for the positive in any situation. Her home was always open to family and friends. She had a strong desire to serve the Lord. Funeral services will be held Sat., February 24, 2007, 10:00 a.m., at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah, where friends and family are welcome to call Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in the Vine Bluff Cemetery in Nephi, UT.
