Prudence Matthew McGeechan Russell 1921 ~ 2007 Prudence Matthew McGeechan Russell (Mum) died peacefully Feb. 19th, 2007 after a courageous battle with congestive heart failure. Mum never complained under difficult circumstances, her concern was always for her family and caregivers. Born Dec 6th, 1921 to Thomas McGeechan and Jane Matthew in Glasgow, Scotland. Her mother died when she was 17 months old. She was raised by her grandparents in Twechar, Scotland. Married to Hugh Russell who preceded her in death in 1986. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Her greatest desire since early childhood was to become a mother and raise children. She is survived and loved by all of her children, four sons in Scotland, Tom, William, Hugh and Donald and three daughters in Utah, Irene, Jean and Elizabeth, as well as 18 grandchildren and nine great-grand-children. Mum loved to travel to visit family and friends throughout the world. Her greatest joy was to receive letters from family and friends and to keep everyone informed and in touch. She corresponded with family on five continents and was loved by many distant cousins in far off places. Material possessions were unimportant to Mum. Her gentle, loving, kind nature put others at ease and made her a joy to be around. She loved to attend the Bountiful Temple and cherished her membership in the LDS church. All of her grandchildren love her and consider her the best Nana in the world! A special thanks to the Utah Heart Clinic's Dr Mayer, Dr Osborne and Kaya and the nursing staff at LDS Hospital West 7. We would also like to thank Dr June Steeley for her care and compassion. Thank you Dr Richard Ingebretsen for your love, friendship and care.
