The recent deaths of two elderly people in the snow should remind families, friends and churches that the elderly need more than just our love, visits and concern. They need things that will prevent dangerous emergency problems in the future. Elderly people who still drive need a special car emergency kit that includes blankets, jumper cables, a tow rope, food, flashlights and emergency flares. These kits can be purchased inexpensively.
Furthermore, churches, friends and family should make sure the cars of the elderly are in good running condition. And a cell phone is absolutely necessity.
