Police say a Salem man, angry because he thought his neighbor killed his cat, tossed green paint all over his neighbor's truck, garage and driveway.
Police responded to a home near 900 E. 350 South in Salem and followed a trail of green-paint footprints to a nearby home, according to a police report.
A man in the home had shoes that matched the prints and allegedly confessed to dumping the paint, police said.
The man said he was fighting with his neighbor and blamed him for breaking his car window and shooting his pet cat, according to the report.
The man allegedly confessed to getting the paint from his work and throwing it on his neighbor's property.
By the time the police officer arrived, the paint had already dried and might prove extremely expensive if it cannot be removed, according to the report.
The man was arrested for investigation of criminal mischief and booked into the Utah County Jail on $2,500 cash or bond bail.
