MEN'S TENNIS: The Weber State men's tennis team fell to 5-8 overall and 1-3 in the Big Sky following a 4-3 loss to Eastern Washington on Friday at Edman Courts. The Wildcats earned the doubles point with wins in the top two spots. Travis Covington and Mario Schnabl downed Pannhara Mam and Kyle Schraeder 8-5 at No. 1, while Fabio Mancarella and Dave Hintze defeated Nico Riego de Dios and Keithan Gregg 8-3 at No. 2.

WOMEN'S TENNIS: Weber State had its first win of the Big Sky season slip away on Friday in a 4-3 loss to Eastern Washington at Edman Courts. The Wildcats won the doubles point behind victories at the No. 1 and 3 doubles spots. Inalise Pienaar and Kate Ennenga, and Ashley Schapper and Elsje Beneke were victorious.

FOOTBALL: Southern Utah University head football coach Wes Meier has named Solomona Tapasa to the Thunderbird football staff. Tapasa will coach the defensive line. He replaces Vince Taunuu, who resigned last winter to pursue other interests.

A 1992 graduate of Portland State, Tapasa comes to SUU from Western Oregon, where he spent the past three seasons coaching the defensive line and working with the Wolves' punters. Prior to that, Tapasa spent eight years as an assistant at Sunset High in Portland, Ore., serving as special teams coordinator while working with both the offensive and defensive lines.
