It looks like Utah coach Ray Giacoletti will land on his feet after resigning as the Utah basketball coach earlier this month.
With Gonzaga assistant coach Bill Grier set to be named as the new coach at the University of San Diego at a Monday news conference, Giacoletti looks to be in line to replace Grier as an assistant under Mark Few.
An article on ESPN.com reports multiple sources said Few will replace Grier with Giacoletti. Few and Giacoletti have been good friends since Giacoletti was the head coach at Eastern Washington.
Reached at his home Sunday, Giacoletti said, "I can't confirm that right now. There isn't even a job open until Bill Grier is named at San Diego." However, Giacoletti did not deny the possibility of working with Few in Spokane.
Giacoletti had four years left on his seven-year contract at Utah, which agreed to pay him $175,000 a year for four years, regardless whether he got another job.
Grier will replace Brad Holland, who coached at USD for 13 years.
