MARCH 26: Several sources in Utah and Michigan confirm that Jim Boylen will be named as the Utah basketball coach and a press conference is scheduled for today.

MARCH 21-24: Kent State coach Jim Christian and Old Dominion coach Blaine Taylor are reported to have been interviewed by Utah athletic director Chris Hill.

MARCH 21: Boylen is interviewed by Hill in San Antonio.

MARCH 19: Michigan State assistant coach Jim Boylen confirms that he has been contacted by Utah officials regarding the head coaching position at the university and that he expected to interview for the position in the coming days. Also, after former Utah player and assistant coach and current Westminster coach Tommy Connor is reported on CBS Sportsline as having the support of Jon M. Huntsman, Connor told the Deseret Morning News, "I wish I could say that I am the new coach at Utah, but I can't."

MARCH 15: One day after meeting for a couple of hours with Hill about the Utah post, Milwaukee Bucks assistant coach Larry Krystkowiak is named Milwaukee head coach, replacing the fired Terry Stotts. Krystkowiak guided Montana to two NCAA tournament berths prior to moving onto the NBA.

MARCH 6: Former Stanford and Golden State coach Mike Montgomery states he is not interested in the Utah opening. Reports also indicate that Creighton coach Dana Altman would be unlikely to leave the Midwest school in favor of the Utah position. Sources close to Southern Illinois coach Chris Lowery and Winthrop's Gregg Marshall also raised doubts that either would leave his position.

MARCH 2: Utah coach Ray Giacoletti announces he will resign after three years effective at the end of the season. Neither he nor athletic director Hill would acknowledge that he was forced out, although indications are he was let go.
