E. Daloy Evans 1918 ~ 2007 ST. GEORGE, UT - E. Daloy Evans, 89, passed away peacefully April 5, 2007 at the Dixie Medical Center of cause's incident to age. He was born January 28, 1918 in Union, Salt Lake County, Utah to Evan George Evans and Eva Arzell Thompson. He married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Irene Blair, May 5, 1940 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He spent his childhood in Union, learning early the value of hard work and an honest days work for his pay. He graduated from Jordan High School and then pursued several vocations during his adult life. He was custodian for the LDS Church for many years, coupling this with driving a school bus for Granite School District full time. He and Dorothy moved to St. George in 1970 and purchased the Chalet Motel on St. George Blvd. He later managed the Weston Lamplighter Motel. In his later years, he owned and operated a successful maintenance business. He was never one to let much grass grow beneath his feet. He was an avid Scouter his entire life, spending many years as a Scout Master and District Leader. He was awarded the Silver Beaver, of which he was very proud. He will best be remembered for his very productive gardens no matter where he lived. He was always anxious to share the fruits and vegetables with family, neighbors, and friends. His famous homemade root beer was always in demand at both church and family gatherings. He and Dorothy loved long drives in the desert and mountains, exploring new places and finding new things. He is survived by children, Douglas Daloy and Claudia Ashby of St. George, UT, Carolyn (Gary) Smith of Hurricane, UT, and Paul (Denise) Evans of St. George, UT; 18 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and 13 great great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Mildred; grandsons, Shawn Redmond, and Troy Evans; granddaughter, Shelly Smith. Funeral services will be held at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 W. St. George Blvd, Tuesday, April 10, 2007, 11 a.m. A viewing will held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Mortuary. Internment at Mountain View Memorial Estates, 3115 E. 7800 S, Cottonwood Heights, UT, 84121, 12 noon Wed. April 11, 2007, under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary.
