Elinor B. Evans "Together Again" Our dear mother was called home in the wee morning hours of April 8, 2007. Though saddened by her passing, we are grateful that her many days of suffering are over. During these past few years she has truly been an example of enduring to the end. Elinor was born to William W. and Edith Burt in Cardston, Alberta, Canada on October 26, 1919. She graduated from Normal School in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and taught school in the Hillspring, Canada area. She met and married the love of her life, David J. Evans, July 10, 1946 in the Cardston, Alberta, Canada Temple. He preceded her in death April 19, 1999. Elinor and Dave made their home in Shiprock, New Mexico and later moved to Farmington, NM where they raised six children. She loved teaching and taught Kindergarten while raising a family. As her children grew older, Elinor went back to college to renew her teaching certificate and graduated from Ft. Lewis College in Durango, CO summa cum laude. She taught elementary school in the Farmington, NM School District for 16 years. Family was most important to Elinor and she was a wonderful example of Christ-like love to everyone who knew her. She was an excellent cook and seamstress and had a great love of music. She was a faithful member of the LDS Church and served in various callings in the Primary and Relief Society organizations. Elinor is survived by her children: Carol (Jerry) Peterson, Bruce (Debbie), Bill (Karen), Sandy (Lynn) Collins, Marianne (Joseph) Malbica; daughter-in-law, Kathy Evans; sisters: Beryl Shaw, Nina Davis, Nedra MacKay; brothers: William Burt and Kent Burt; 25 grand-children; 24 great-grandchildren. Also preceded in death by her son, Bob (Kathy's husband) on June 15, 2002. Special thanks to the nurses and those that attended Elinor at the Alpine Valley Care Center, in Pleasant Grove, these past several years. Funeral services will be held Thurs., April 12, 2007, 11:00 a.m. at the Taylorsville Valley Park 1st Ward, 4986 Valois Drive (2250 West) where a viewing will be held, 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Kirtland/Fruitland Cemetery, Kirtland, New Mexico on Sat., April 14, 2007, 11:00 a.m. Arrangements under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home.
