The numbers: The Vikings won three games in a row after losing their first seven of the season, and one big reason for the turnaround was Jones' sudden hitting streak. She's been thriving on the long ball and knocked one out of the park in games against American Fork and Lone Peak as the Vikings outscored the competition 27-11. Jones didn't stop with the home run, though, as she added a double in her outing against American Fork. Her hitting has helped the Vikings start Region 4 undefeated at 2-0, tied for first place.
Mike Newbury
Springville Red Devils

Position: Pitcher/designated hitter
The numbers: The Red Devils are off to a fast region start, and Newbury's efforts on the mound and at the plate are a big reason. He's hit safely in each region game so far, collecting two hits in a win over Timpview, four singles in a win over Provo, and four hits in two wins over Payson. He has two doubles and five RBI in Springville's five region wins. Newbury also has two pitching wins in league play. He tossed a three-hitter against Timpview, and last week shut out Payson by allowing the Lions only three hits and striking out seven.
