PROVO — The Utah, Summit and Wasatch counties' Senior Companion Program will honor seven volunteers at the 2007 Recognition Luncheon Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Utah County Health and Justice Building, 151 S. University Ave.
The program consists of volunteers age 60 and older helping other seniors who may be homebound and frail, or serving as a respite care service for family members who need time away from home. There are currently 46 volunteers in the program, with more constantly needed.
Those receiving recognition for their years of service include: Donald Tolman, three-year award; Herta Gruenenwald, Margaret Gunther and Gary Merritt, five-year awards; and Donna Hiatt and Hatty Jo Robb, 10-year awards. Rhoda Chandler, who will be retiring from volunteer service, will receive her 18-year award.
