Springville police on Sunday were looking for the driver involved in a hit-and-run accident that injured a 15-year-old boy.

The boy was riding a bicycle near 1600 S. State in Springville about 4:20 p.m. when he was hit by what witnesses described as a red Pontiac Firebird, said Springville Police Lt. Dave Caron.

"The car hit the front end of his bike. I don't know if he had just pulled out and didn't see the car," he said. "It knocked him about 10 to 15 feet," Caron said. "The Firebird just continued down the road."

The boy was taken to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. Caron did not know his condition Sunday night.

The speed limit on the road, which is the old highway connecting Spanish Fork and Springville, is 55 mph. It was unknown Sunday if the boy was wearing a helmet.

Anyone with information on the driver or the accident is asked to call police at 489-9421.
