LAS VEGAS — Bartolo Colon was magnificent in his rehab start for Salt Lake as the Bees routed the 51s 8-2 on Sunday afternoon.
The 2005 AL Cy Young Award winner went seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits with three strikeouts and one walk. Colon threw 95 pitches in the game, 68 for strikes.
The Bees grabbed the lead with two runs in the first on a run-scoring single by Brandon Wood and a sacrifice fly by Terry Evans. They would break the game open with three runs in the seventh and two more in the eighth.
Matt Brown led the 16-hit attack with four hits and two runs batted in, while Wood added three hits with one RBI. Evans had two hits to extend his hitting streak to 11 games and Nathan Haynes had three hits to stretch his streak to 10 games.
