BRIGHAM CITY — A man accused of taking a teenage girl as a polygamous wife has struck a plea deal with prosecutors.

During a court appearance in 1st District Court on Monday, Gerald P. Roskelley, 39, pleaded guilty to charges of forcible sex abuse and unlawful sex with a 16-or-17-year-old. According to court minutes, Roskelley also entered an "Alford plea" to a charge of bigamy.

An Alford plea means a defendant does not admit all of the facts of a case, but acknowledges there is enough evidence that a jury could find him guilty.

Roskelley is accused of taking a teenage girl as his second, "spiritual" wife. He was allowed to remain free until his sentencing on July 16. The judge ordered Roskelley to have no contact with the victim and he was served with civil stalking injunction.
