Leland R. Gygi "Lee" Lee passed away April 15, 2007. He was born March 18, 1917 in Salt Lake City to Herman and Jennie Faldmo Gygi. Married Thelma Palfreyman in the Salt Lake Temple in 1941; she passed away January 1, 2001. Lee was a Brakeman for the D&RG Railroad for 30 years. He was previously administrator for the Old Salt Lake County Hospital. He then worked as Superintendent for the Salt Lake County Roads & Bridges. He was also on the Board of Corrections for the Utah State Prison. He was a member of the LDS Church. Lee was also a member of the Lions Club. His hobbies were politics and golfing. He served in the Navy and was veteran of World War II. Survived by his daughters, Lynda Lee Gygi and Reesa Gygi; adopted daughters, Kristin Winter, Mary Ptacek; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Herman Gygi, Etta Adams, Sylvia Albertson, George (Beverly) Gygi. Preceded in death by his son, Jay C. Parker; and grandson, Ronald J. Parker. The family wishes to express their appreciation to Dr. Stephen Aslami and the staffs of Millcreek and Woodland Park Care Center, as well as Bristol Hospice, for their care and compassion. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 20, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State Street, where friends may call Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Friday morning from 9:30-10:15 a.m. prior to services. Interment: Mtn. View Memorial Estates.
