LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. (AP) — A man and a woman were found dead in a hotel room at a luxury oceanfront resort Sunday after police were called to intervene in a domestic dispute, authorities said.
Police were called to the Montage Resort and Spa by a security guard who said a man and a woman were engaged in a domestic dispute, authorities said. A subsequent caller said there was a "crazy woman with a gun," in the hotel's parking garage.
Officers tried to resolve the situation peacefully, police said, but the two adults refused to cooperate and the fatal gunshots were fired.
It was unclear whether an officer's gun was discharged, police said.
Hotel spokeswoman Susan Neisloss said the shooting was under police investigation.
The 250-room resort hotel opened in 2003 and is popular with celebrities.
