In response to Breck England's letter (Readers' Forum, April 26) that "teachers are still paid a pittance," we are again hit with the "we don't get paid enough" mentality.
I am beginning to wonder if teachers really do decide "between buying groceries and paying the mortgage" or if it is more of a "groceries versus a trip to Hawaii" type of thing. Are teacher salaries really a "pittance"? Or, like most humans, are teachers just living beyond their means and blaming it on the Legislature?
