GRANTSVILLE — For the first time in its six years of existence, Grantsville's soccer program recorded a region win.
The Cowboys had lost 119-straight boys and girls soccer games in league play, but the boys team broke through Friday afternoon.
In its final game of the season, Galana Eshete scored the golden goal in the 85th minute, and Grantsville emerged with a 2-1 overtime win over rival Tooele.
"It's big to have the kids see the vision of what the coaches have been telling them for six years," said coach Casey Walker, who added he was most proud of the way Grantsville played.
Eshete's goal resulted from a combination play with Jackson Kelley.
Grantsville loses just one senior to graduation, and the Cowboys will look to build on Friday's enormous win in 2008.
