CEDAR CITY — A man accused of shooting a police officer has been ordered to stand trial on charges.
Bryan Featherhat, 30, appeared in Cedar City's 5th District Court on Tuesday for a preliminary hearing on charges of attempted aggravated murder and aggravated robbery, both first-degree felonies; and theft, a second-degree felony. Court minutes indicate the judge ordered Featherhat to stand trial after testimony from several witnesses, including Officer Jason Thomas.
Thomas had stopped to help Featherhat when his car became stuck in the snow during a January storm. Police said Featherhat shot Thomas twice, then fled the scene. He was apprehended a short time later.
Featherhat will be arraigned in court on April 17.
