Thomas Richard Muir 1922 ~ 2007 Thomas Richard Muir, age 84, passed away April 3, 2007 of natural causes. Dick was born May 11, 1922 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Thomas W. and Ada Spencer Muir. He married Fern Poulson on May 8, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple. They enjoyed nearly 60 years together. He served in the Navy aboard an LST as a communication specialist during World War II. Dick attended the University of Utah and then went to work with his father as an insurance agent and financial controller. He spent 30 years as a loyal partner in the insurance agency. He was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the East Central States Mission primarily in Kentucky and Tennessee. Dick was called to many church positions including YM President, Bishop, High Councilor, and a counselor in the stake presidency. He served with his wife, Fern, as missionaries in the Massachusetts Boston Mission. He loved meeting and greeting people and was dearly loved by the members of his ward and stake. Dick loved athletics and going to watch the many games of his children and grandchildren. He was an exemplary father and grand-father. He also enjoyed stamp collecting. He was a man of integrity and provided a fantastic example for this family and friends to follow. Survived by his wife, Fern, his children: Tom (Sara), Ann (Brian) Johnson, John (Lesley), Carol (Jeff) Theurer, Scott (Pam), Rob (Mary), 26 grandchildren, 14 great-grand-children. Preceded in death by his sisters Mary and Ruth. Funeral services to be held Sat., April 7, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hillside Stake Center (1400 S. 1900 E). Friends and family may call Fri., April 6, 2007, from 6-8 p.m. Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, (2350 E. 1300 S.) and Saturday at the Stake Center from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the service.
