Hinckley, then first counselor in the First Presidency, said of the Salt Lake Tabernacle during the October 1992 general conference: "I hope ... that perhaps this tremendous building in which we meet, now used for 125 years by the Latter-day Saints as our Tabernacle, will remind each of us of the strength we must nurture within ourselves while living in these mortal personal tabernacles which are the gift and creation of God."
