The Fort Douglas Military Museum won a $10,000 grant from the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

The museum is seeking $6 million to preserve and restore two historic buildings, according to its Web site. The $10,000 grant will be used to evaluate the museum's current systems, prepare architectural drawings, develop a fund-raising plan and print materials.

The grant was distributed through the Utah Preservation Initiatives Fund.

Admission to the museum is free. The buildings are open to the public from noon until 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
