PROVO — Police released the name of the man who died Friday after his car was broadsided by a minivan trying to evade police.

Miguel Martinez Montero, a 32-year-old Santaquin resident, was driving on State Street in Provo at about 1720 North when a vehicle being pursued by police sped out of an abandoned parking lot and hit his car. Montero was the sole occupant of his car.

Provo police were pursuing the minivan because of a report that the driver might be suicidal.

Police said the minivan driver tried to drive away after the accident but ended up fleeing on foot. Drug paraphenalia was found in the minivan, police said.
