OREM — Jennifer Rivera, a junior at Timpanogos High School, is one of only 30 students nationally to attend the National Council for Community and Education Partnerships Booz Allen Hamilton Youth Leadership Summit, held in San Francisco, July 21-25.

She is the first representative to the summit from Utah. Sharon Bluth, a counselor at Utah Valley State College, recommended Rivera.

As part of the application Rivera wrote an essay about how she would improve the education system, Bluth said. Rivera's academic achievements and leadership experiences were also considered. Rivera has a 3.8 grade point average, is consistently on the honor roll and is studying Japanese.
