The Deseret Morning News has a weak lineup of editorial columnists, but one of the worst is John Hughes. His columns follow the same pattern. He does a quick, superficial "analysis" of an issue and then in the final paragraph makes some bogus contention based on his analysis. Wednesday's column was no exception, but this take was even more confused than usual. Is he saying that we are losing the war because Fox news reporters and others are being manipulated by crafty Arabs disseminating false information? Or was he implying that we are really winning the war in Iraq and if not for the gullible, American hating "liberal" press, everyone would know it? We all know the media don't get everything perfect, but come on, John, we are getting our butts kicked in Iraq because of gross incompetence by the Bush administration, not because of some "clever enemy media campaign."
