VaLeen Taylor Bell 1918 ~ 2007 VaLeen Taylor Bell, 89, passed away Friday, July 20, 2007. The youngest of ten children, VaLeen was born in Salt Lake City, Feb. 14, 1918 to Abraham Young Taylor and Ruth Clare Fox. She was the granddaughter of Pres. John Taylor and spent most of her life in the Salt Lake Valley. On Feb. 14, 1940 she married Albert Milton Bell in Washington, DC. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Besides having three of their own children, VaLeen and Albert were foster parents to two Native American children. VaLeen had a passion for the extraction program of the LDS Church. She loved genealogy and was a temple worker. She and Albert served a mission in the Tongan Islands. Family and friends knew her home was always open to them whenever they needed a place to stay. Traveling with her sisters was a favorite pastime - often taking off at a moment's notice. They loved exploring and being in each other's company. VaLeen enjoyed boating and fishing with her husband. Spending time with her extended family was very important to her; she organized luncheons with nieces and nephews and spent many years bowling with her brothers, sisters and their families. While in her 80's she volunteered for two years at an elementary school helping children learn to read. She is survived by her children, Julia Moore, Stanley (Jeanette) Bell, and Linda (Max) Jamison; brother, Owen Taylor of California; 17 grandchildren and 46 great-grand-children. Funeral services will be on Friday, July 27, at 1 p.m. at the Hillcrest 7th Ward, 8485 S. 1000 E, Sandy, UT, where VaLeen was a member for nearly 50 years.
