Emily Joyce Robinson Polson 1924 ~ 2007 Emily Joyce Robinson Polson passed away at home in the presence of her family on July 22, 2007. Joyce was born to Charles and Laura Robinson on August 10, 1924 and was the youngest of five children. She graduated from East High School where she developed several life long friendships. Their monthly lunches meant so much to her. Joyce started her 65 year love affair with Bill Polson when they met at the University of Utah where she was pursuing her bachelor degree in Elementary Education. They were married on June 12, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple. She taught kindergarten and first grade for 20 plus years in the Salt Lake and Granite school districts. She especially loved teaching children how to read. She was an avid reader and connoisseur of fine foods and was famous for her wonderful cooking. She loved to travel and had the ability to turn even the smallest outing into a grand adventure. The family trips to Bear Lake, St. George, cruises, weekend getaways and Sunday drives will be greatly missed. A celebration of holidays, especially Christmas, was her passion. She made sure every child, grandchild and great grandchild had a personalized and memorable experience. Joyce was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed serving in many callings. She had a strong testimony of the Savior. She is survived by her husband, Bill, brother Red Robinson and was a loving and devoted mother to her six children; Laurie (Dale) Barratt, Shelley (Del) Johnson, Carol (Ken) Gipson, Robyn (Greg) Brown, Bill "Hub" (Sharon) Polson and Matt (Tracy) Polson. She also was a cherished grandmother to 18 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren with four more on the way. Preceded in death by son-in-law Blain Pollock, her parents, one brother and three sisters. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 27th 11:00 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy. A viewing will be held on Thursday July 26th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday one hour prior to services at the same location. In memory of Joyce's giving nature a donation to your favorite charity or an act of kindness would be appropriate. "We will miss you and treasure the time we had with you. To us you will always be a great, a beautiful and a very special lady." Online condolences: larkinmortuary.com
