Steven Miles Mehner 1946 ~ 2007 Steve has finally reached the great dumpster in the sky. He passed away peacefully on July 26, 2007 after a long battle with diabetes and complications from a stroke. Steve was born on Sept. 9, 1946 to Ottilla McKnight and Waldermar Mehner in San Bernardino, CA. He married Christine Allen on Aug. 30, 1980 in American Fork, UT. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. He served in the United States Navy and graduated from Brigham Young University with a B.S. Degree. Steve was a beloved science teacher at Riverview Jr. High. He truly loved his students and fellow school teachers. Steve was active in the LDS Church and served for three years at the Jordan River Temple. He loved his Savior. He is survived by his wife, Christine; children, James (Leslie) Mehner, Benjamin (Angela) Mehner, Jason Mehner, Kathy Hayes, Lori (Jesse) Kertamus, David Nielson; brother, James (Jane) Jensen; sister, Ida (Tom) Enlow; 11 grandchildren. Steve loved being "Grandpa". Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wed. August 1, 2007 at the West Jordan 19th Ward, 7000 S. 2700 W. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State St., and Wed. 10-10:40 a.m. at the church. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the local Diabetes Association or Heart Foundation. The family wishes to thank all the wonderful staff and caretakers at the Canyon Rim Care Center and the Veterans Hospital.
