Johnette Hales Fox 1939 ~ 2007 Johnette Hales Fox passed away July 2 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Fillmore, Utah October 2, 1939, the daughter of Iman and Ferris Ashman Hales. They moved to Salt Lake City and she attended East High and graduated in elementary education from the University of Utah where she was affiliated with Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, and served as Junior Class Secretary. She married the love of her life, Stephen Fox December 27, 1962, and together they raised their two beautiful daughters, Lesley and Elizabeth (Stephen) Austin. Johnette was a wonderful wife, mother, and friend. She loved teaching and was particularly gifted at helping students with problems of any kind. Everyone wanted her as a teacher. She was an avid and competitive tennis player. A friend said that everyone loved to be her doubles partner because she made it great fun, and you wouldn't have to play against her. Johnette and Steve loved not only tennis together, but also golf, the theatre, and all music. They loved to travel, and attended all four grand slam tennis tournaments. Johnette was a woman of grace, beauty, and dignity with a host of friends who will miss her caring friendship. She is survived by her husband and daughters, her newborn grandson, Ian Austin, who brightened her last days, a brother Fred (Jane) Hales, and sister Sandra (John) Knowlton, and her brothers in law Lawrence (Aglaia) Fox and Douglas (Geneal) Fox. A visitation will be held at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary 3401 Highland Drive, Friday July 6 from 7 to 9 PM. Services will be held at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Saturday July 7, at 10 AM with a visitation one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer a contribution made to the American Cancer Society.
