OREM — Jack R. Christianson, former director of the Orem LDS Institute of Religion, has been named executive director of the newly created Communities of Engaged Learning Department at Utah Valley State College.

The Communities of Engaged Learning is an initiative for the faculty to become more engaged in the community.

As executive director, Christianson will collaborate with UVSC's academic community to help create opportunities for service within the region.

He will report directly to the president. He will help oversee a $400,000 fund available to UVSC faculty and staff engaged in student-centered, regionally focused research.
