Verna Roberts Shepherd

1916 ~ 2007

A life of strength, beauty, and generosity came to a close on August 9, 2007 when Verna R. Shepherd died of causes incident to age.

Born in Lincoln, Idaho on July 17, 1916 to Frank and Amanda Schow Roberts, she lived nearly her entire life in Delta, Utah. Mom's early years were a busy mix of hard work and fun. She had six brothers and one sister, with whom she was close, and also built many lifelong

friendships.

Upon graduating from high school, mom became a clothes buyer for a local store. She had a talent for selecting beautiful clothes and looked lovely every day of her life. After a four-year courtship, she married Quin T. Shepherd on November 28, 1941 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were a good match, working together over the years to raise four children and build a successful farm.

Mom was an active member of the LDS church and enjoyed her many associations there. In her later years, she joined a family home evening group of local widows, whose friendships she cherished. She missed those friends very much when she moved to South Jordan two years ago to live with her daughters.

Cultivating beauty throughout her life, mom was an avid gardener, amazing seamstress, and gracious hostess. She loved a good party and was at her happiest when serving delicious meals to family and friends. She was also a voracious reader and bridge player. generosity.

She is survived by her children: Annette (David) Canning, Carolyn (Richard) Feinstein, and Dr. Edward (Melinda) Shepherd; her son-in-law, Gary Barney; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
