The man who oversees the GED in Utah received the 2007 Distinguished Service Award from General Educational Development Testing Service.

Murray Meszaros, Utah's GED administrator since 1997, received the award last month at the annual GED Administrators Conference in Alaska.

Meszaros was praised for bringing GED testing centers to rural Utah and led the development of an acclaimed multimedia campaign promoting the GED.

Virginia Gaines Fox, who led the creation of the GED Connections TV series, and Charlotte Beth Mullins, a GED program coordinator with the Texas Youth Commission, received Lifetime Achievement awards.
