TOOELE — Curtis Reed Crittenden, the Utah 4-H leader charged with fondling four boys when they slept over at his home, has pleaded guilty as part of a plea agreement.
Crittenden, 32, last week pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual abuse of a child and three counts of forcible sexual abuse, which all are second-degree felonies. The plea bargain reduced the first three counts down from first-degree felonies.
Court documents state that Crittenden would reach into the boy's pants and touch their genitals during sleepovers at his home. In Tooele, prosecutors say six boys were molested by Crittenden, three of them 14 and older, and three of them 13 or younger.
His sentencing is set for Sept. 25 before 3rd District Judge Mark Kouris. The judge has ordered a pre-sentence report.
Prosecutors plan to ask for five consecutive sentences and one concurrent sentence, which could result in a potential term of five to 30 years behind bars. Utah judges are not bound by recommendations from any party in criminal cases but generally take such suggestions seriously.
Crittenden is being held in the Tooele County Jail.
Utah 4-H officials previously have said Crittenden violated the organization's policy, which is to never permit youngsters to sleep over at a worker or volunteer home without other chaperones present.
