An 18-month-old boy was reportedly in good condition Monday after a near-drowning incident.
The toddler was home with a baby-sitter near 5700 South and 2500 West about 1 p.m. There was also a pool cleaner near the backyard swimming pool, said Unified Fire Authority Capt. Jay Torgersen.
The boy, undetected until it was too late to stop him, managed to slip past the adults and either fell or voluntarily got into the pool. Both the cleaner and baby-sitter went in after the child and estimated he was in the water no longer than 20 or 30 seconds, Torgersen said.
The toddler was coughing and throwing up water when he was pulled out but remained conscious and alert, Torgersen said.
The boy was taken to the hospital as a precaution but was expected to make a full recovery.
