PROVO — A man is in jail, accused of raping and sodomizing a child.
He was arrested for investigation of child rape after a child who used to attend a day care operated by the man told police he abused her.
The child, now 8, told police that when she was 5, she was sexually abused by her caretaker, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed in 4th District Court.
She said that for at least four months, whenever she was at a day care near 1200 East and 520 South in Provo, or at the man's home near 1100 East and 1080 South, the 42-year-old man would ask her to perform sex acts, according to the affidavit.
She told police the man's actions happened every time the man's wife left for work, and that they hurt her, according to the affidavit.
During an interview, according to the document, the man told police the girl had been telling the truth.
He was booked into the Utah County Jail for investigation of rape of a child, sodomy of a child, aggravated forcible sex abuse of a child and is being held without bail.
