Animal torture is wrong. A solution is needed. But not the proposed solution which is still the same seriously flawed bill that failed in the 2007 Legislative session. This overly broad bill punishes the citizen who puts out rat poison, tries to kill gophers in their horse pasture (farm exemption doesn't apply here), applies insecticide in their gardens or attempts to kill pigeons that are creating a health hazard by pooping all over the porch.

Lest one forget, pigeons are carriers of the deadly H5N1 virus.

One can only suppose that Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. is blindly using this to rebuild his reputation in some quarters prior to an early re-election announcement. There is no flurry of animal abuse cases that make it necessary to have a flawed bill rushed through.
